Shop Limit Straps → View Product Details →Suspension limit straps — also called droop straps or travel limiters — prevent a vehicle's suspension from dropping below a safe limit when a wheel goes into full droop (hangs in the air). Without limit straps, full droop can cause CV axles to over-extend and tear, brake lines to stretch and crack, and ABS sensor wiring to snap. Limit straps are a cheap insurance policy against expensive drivetrain damage on lifted vehicles used off-road.
They are especially important after a suspension lift. A 4-inch lift adds 4 inches of downward travel range that the factory axles, lines, and wiring were not designed to handle. Properly set limit straps restrict that travel to a safe range — typically allowing 2–3 inches of additional droop over stock while protecting the drivetrain components.
Measurement process: with the vehicle on a lift or jackstands with the wheels hanging, measure the distance from the upper mounting point to the lower mounting point at the maximum safe droop position. This is determined by checking CV axle angle (should not exceed 30–35 degrees), brake line tension, and ABS sensor wire slack. Set the strap length to this measurement — the strap should become taut just before the problematic droop point.
